How the Patrol is organized
Divisions
The Patrol is organized into divisions and units grouped under six bureaus, each responsible for a distinct area of the agency’s work.
Assistant Superintendent's Office

Professional Standards
Ensures the integrity of the Patrol and its personnel through a comprehensive and objective process of investigating allegations of employee misconduct.
Public Information and Education
Prepares and disseminates information about the Patrol via the media, fields public and media questions, and provides educational programs across the state.
Administrative Services Bureau

Coordinates personnel and employee-related functions for all Patrol components.
Recruiting and Community Outreach
Develops closer relationships with communities, and recruits candidates for trooper and civilian careers.
Training
Provides centralised training at the Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, plus continuing education, leadership development, and recertification courses.
Wellness Unit
Supports all Patrol employees with resources and guidance across four pillars of wellness — physical, mental, spiritual, and financial.
Criminal Investigation Bureau
Major Steven V. WilhoitCrime Laboratory
Analyzes physical evidence from criminal investigations — DNA, drug chemistry, toxicology, firearms, toolmarks, latent prints, and trace evidence.
Drug and Crime Control
Bomb squad, investigations, Special Victims Unit, narcotics, rural crimes, and organized crime.
Gaming
Provides criminal and regulatory enforcement of gaming operations within the state.
Missouri Information Analysis Center
Receives, gathers, analyzes, and disseminates information for counterterrorism efforts, homeland security initiatives, and criminal case support.
Executive Services Bureau

Financial management, grants, supply, and procurement.
Governor's Security
Responsible for security for the governor and immediate family, visiting governors, and other dignitaries.
Patrol Records
Statewide motor vehicle and boating crash reports, alcohol- and drug-related traffic offenses, Patrol arrests, and Uniform Citation numbers. Custodian of Records.
Research and Development
Manages policy development and accreditation, forms and references, staff inspections, property control, strategic planning, the Missouri Violent Death Reporting system, and the Statistical Analysis Center.
Field Operations Bureau

Oversight of the Aircraft Division, Water Patrol Division, all nine troops, STORM, Major Crash Investigation Unit, SWAT teams, Filling a V.O.I.D. Program, and the Field Training and Evaluation Program.
Aircraft
Provides aerial support for troop operations.
Water Patrol
Oversees marine operations and the training of marine troopers. Boater education, navigational aids, regatta programs, and the Patrol’s dive team.
Support Services Bureau

Coordinates the uniform enforcement of commercial vehicle laws and regulations.
Driver and Vehicle Safety
Driver examination and motor vehicle inspection.
Fleet and Facilities
Directs the procurement, assignment, maintenance, repair, and eventual sale of Patrol vehicles and vessels.
Technical Services Bureau

Maintains and operates a 24-hour communications network covering the nine troop headquarters across the state, including MOSWIN.
Criminal Justice Information Services
Criminal records, fingerprints, AFIS, MoVECHS, and the Sex Offender Registry.
Cybersecurity and Technology
Protects digital assets and provides technological advancements for the Patrol and other Missouri criminal justice agencies.
