General Questions
Where and when can I obtain a criminal background check?
You may use the Patrol's MACHS portal at machs.mo.gov to request either a name-based search or a fingerprint-based search. Register with whichever portal suits your request. See the CJIS Division page for more about MACHS.
How do I find current road conditions?
Where is my nearest troop headquarters?
How do I obtain a copy of a traffic or boating crash report?
Since August 1, 2024, requests for a Missouri Uniform Crash Report or Marine Accident Investigation Report are handled electronically. You can request, receive, and pay for these documents online by credit or debit card; checks and money orders are still accepted with a copy of the invoice. Faxed requests are still received but take longer to process.
Reconstruction reports, photographs and videos are covered by the same process. Use the Public Records Center and choose either Traffic Crash Report Request or Boating Crash Report Request.

Find your nearest troopHow are complaints made?
The Professional Standards Division accepts complaints through the online complaint and commendation system, and also by phone, email, letter or in person. Any Patrol employee may receive a complaint and forward it to the division. Patrol employees will not interfere with, discourage or delay the making or investigation of a complaint.
You can also write to the Professional Standards Division at 1510 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0568. Please include your name, address and telephone number, the employee's name or badge number if known, and the date of the incident. Any of the nine troop headquarters can also take a complaint by phone or in person.

You may email, post or fax a Public Records Request, but the Public Records Center is the preferred method. Call the number below and choose option 2 to discuss the best option for your request.
The Custodian of Records handles requests for departmental records apart from accident reports, reconstructions and accident-related photographs, which are handled by the Patrol Records Division.
