Overview
The Missouri Digital Forensic Center (MDFC) was created in late 2019 as a result of the ever-increasing amount of digital evidence being seized pursuant to criminal activities. The center examines digital evidence for law enforcement statewide.
Task force membership includes Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Social Services, and Army National Guard.
Locations
• Full-time examiners in Jefferson City
• Satellite office in Lee's Summit (Troop A)
• Part-time examiners across Troops A, C, D, E, F, and G
Lab Services Request Process
Submission Method (Effective March 1, 2024): Online only at forensics.mshp.dps.mo.gov
Key Requirements:
• Government-employed officers/investigators only
• Do not bring evidence to the MDFC without prior approval
• Search warrants preferred over consent (consent can be revoked)
• Required forms: MDFC submission letter, instructions guide, Legal Authority Statement SHP-189
