About the Unit
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is the Central Repository for the sex offender registry information of all sex offenders required to register pursuant to state law (589 RSMo). The Missouri Sex Offender Registry System (SOR) enhances public safety by maintaining accurate and current information on registered offenders which is made available to the public via the state SOR website.
The registry provides citizens, law enforcement, and community organizers with access to critical information to promote awareness, prevention, and to strengthen the safety of communities across the state. The Missouri Sex Offender Registry (SOR) Unit is tasked with verifying and approving information provided by the county before releasing it to the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES), the National Crime Information Center, and/or the public website pursuant to state and federal laws.
The SOR unit is the direct line of communication between in-state and out-of-state agencies, the registration officials, and the public regarding registration questions.
The SOR Unit provides educational and technical support to registration officials through onsite training and telephone support. Biennial conferences are organized by the SOR Unit to ensure the most up-to-date system information and resources are offered to the many stakeholders throughout the state who sentence, monitor, apprehend, register, and track sex offenders.
