About CALEA Accreditation
Accreditation requires the MSHP’s participation in a detailed accreditation process for compliance with all CALEA-identified standards regarding agency policies, procedures, and practices.
The assessment consists of a four-year cycle of continued compliance reviews. The process includes annual remote, web-based file reviews and interviews with MSHP personnel and external stakeholders, completed in three of the four years. The fourth year of assessment concludes with an on-site, comprehensive evaluation of compliance with CALEA standards and effectiveness of operational application, including a review of public comments and interviews with various external stakeholders who interact professionally with the agency.
The Patrol was awarded advanced accreditation on November 11, 2023, which marks the tenth time the Patrol has successfully been reviewed and approved for reaccreditation by the CALEA commissions board.
