Access Integrity Unit

Data quality validation of MULES and NCIC entries, and management of Missouri’s Originating Agency Identifiers.

About the Unit

The Access Integrity Unit (AIU) provides data quality validation of Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) entries, ensuring that all available information is present for law enforcement officers in the field. The AIU staff works closely with the MULES Training Unit to ensure that the information in MULES and NCIC is accurate and complete.

AIU also partners with MULES agencies on connection information and message routing. AIU manages all Originating Agency Identifiers (ORI) approved by the FBI for the state. The ORI is the assigned alphanumeric identifier issued by the FBI via the MSHP CJIS Division to every criminal justice entity in Missouri.

AIU ensures that these are only issued to active criminal justice agencies and maintains current contact information for each agency. This management includes a required biennial validation of all ORIs in the state of Missouri and a report to the FBI.
