About the Program

The Cadet Patrol Academy gives young people firsthand experience of the role law enforcement officers play in promoting and safeguarding American freedoms and rights. The hope is that cadets leave with a favorable view of law enforcement and carry that back into their communities.

In the classroom

Instruction in the history of law enforcement, defensive driving, crash investigation, motor vehicle laws, and drug and alcohol abuse, alongside demonstrations of police skills including personal defense.

Beyond the classroom

Organized sports and tours of criminal justice facilities. Cadets must be physically able to take part in a rigorous physical training program.

A varied group of young teenagers graduate from the academy.

Who Should Attend

Enrolled in high school and in the upper 50th percentile of their class
