About Missouri Scale Houses
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division operates scale houses at strategic locations throughout Missouri. Scale houses are used for weighing commercial vehicles, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Scale House Operations
Scale houses operate during designated hours and may be activated for special enforcement operations. Commercial motor vehicle operators are required to stop at open scale houses as directed by signage.
What to Expect
When directed to enter a scale house, commercial vehicle operators may be subject to vehicle weight verification, safety inspection, driver credential checks, and cargo documentation review.
Bypass Information
Some scale houses participate in electronic screening programs that allow qualified carriers to bypass the facility. Contact the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division for information about electronic screening eligibility.
