About the Missouri State Highway Patrol
Since 1931, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has been dedicated to serving and protecting the citizens of Missouri. The Patrol's mission encompasses traffic safety, criminal investigation, emergency response, and public education across all 114 counties.
Field Operations Bureau
The Field Operations Bureau is the largest bureau in the Patrol, responsible for traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, and emergency response. Troopers patrol Missouri's highways and provide law enforcement services throughout the state.

Criminal Investigation Bureau
The Criminal Investigation Bureau provides specialized investigative support including:
• Division of Drug and Crime Control: Major case investigations, narcotics enforcement, and gaming enforcement
• Crime Laboratory: Forensic analysis of evidence including DNA, firearms, toxicology, and digital evidence
• Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC): Intelligence analysis and information sharing
Technical Services Bureau
• Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS): Criminal history records, fingerprint identification, and background checks
• Information and Communications Technology: Radio communications, computer systems, and technology support
• Driver and Vehicle Safety: Motor vehicle inspections, driver examination, and VIN verification
Administrative Services Bureau
• Human Resources: Recruitment, training, and personnel management
• Fleet and Facilities: Vehicle maintenance and building management
• Budget and Procurement: Financial management and purchasing
Water Patrol Division
The Water Patrol Division is responsible for enforcing boating and water safety laws on Missouri's lakes, rivers, and waterways. Officers conduct safety patrols, investigate boating accidents, and provide search and rescue operations.
Public Information and Education Division
PIED promotes public safety through educational programs, community outreach, and media relations. The division provides presentations on traffic safety, drug awareness, personal safety, and career opportunities.
