Traffic Safety Rules for Kids

• Look and wait for approaching traffic before crossing streets.

• Cross streets only at intersections or marked crosswalks, and obey traffic lights. Never cross from between parked cars.

• Be especially careful and do not hurry when crossing icy pavement.

• Never chase a playmate into the street.

• Do not roller skate, skateboard, or play games in the street.

• Never dash into the street to retrieve a ball or other object.

• Never make a game of dodging cars.

• If necessary to walk on the pavement, stay close to the left edge and step off to the left when traffic approaches.

• Do not enter or leave a vehicle while it is moving.

• Never hook rides on automobiles or trucks.

• Obey all signals and instructions of the school crossing guard.

• Remind your parents and friends they should always drive carefully, and that everyone should buckle their seat belts.
