Courage2Report — Prevent School Violence

Missouri State Highway Patrol — Public Information and Education Division

If You SEE Something, SAY Something to Someone

If you don't, who will?

What Is Courage2Report?

The mission of Courage2Report (C2R) is to ensure that every Missouri student, parent, teacher and community member has access to a safe and confidential way to report any school safety concerns, with a focus on early intervention and prevention, through awareness and education.

C2R empowers adults and children to be the solution in addressing school and community safety. C2R provides a "sooner is safer" tool to report real time concerns 24 hours a day.

These Concerns Should Be Reported Through C2R

• Assault

• Bullying

• Cyberbullying

• Fighting

• Weapons

• Human Trafficking

• Planned School Attacks

• School Shooting Threats

• Sexual Offense

• Suicide – Other Person

• Terrorism Threat

• Hazing

How Does Courage2Report Work?

Courage2Report calls and tips are answered 24 hours a day by staff who are trained in school safety. Reports are sent to the appropriate school and law enforcement agency for investigation and follow-up. Information from C2R allows authorities to proactively manage potential risks and increase the safety of our schools.

Why Reporting Matters

Missouri's School Violence Prevention Hotline. According to the U.S. Secret Service, in 81% of the instances where a violent act occurs on school property, at least one student had prior knowledge of the event, but failed to report it. Students must learn the importance of taking every threat seriously. C2R helps students do this in a way that keeps them safe. It is also crucial that schools, parents, law enforcement, and community members know the importance of reporting concerns and how to confidentially report to C2R.

Still not sure if you should report something? Let us help you decide.

Other Resources

Bullying

Do you know a child who is a victim of bullying? Section 160.775 RSMo requires every school district to have an anti-bullying policy. To find out about your school's policy, please contact your local school office or go to www.tinyurl.com/5n7ydm6j.

Suicide Prevention

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States. People can always call, text, or chat 988 and be connected to a trained counselor.
